HVAC vents Not blowing

A lot of my travels are short in-town trips. However, the last 2 longer trips I have had, the HVAC system would stop blowing.

I tried cycling through the different vent locations, ionizer was off, was in “focus” mode, etc… (I promise this issue isn’t user error).

The fan blows (sounds) like normal, but no air comes out. Doesn’t matter of it is set to vent, defrost, feet, etc…

The next day the HVAC will operate as normal.

(closest dealer is 8hrs away)

Any ideas?

(rear air still blows, cabin and air filters are clean)

Is it possible it’s freezing up on long trips and thaws out the next day?

Is your auto start stop on? That can kill the compressor at times when it shuts the engine off?

I have a ‘23 G550. I have noticed that my AC blower fan speed will reduce to low when my AppleCarPlay speaks to provide directions. The AC on high is loud so I suspect MB has the system pause when navigation directions are announced. Do you have your AppleCarPlay in when you experience this issue?

If the fan is turning but no air coming out even though the vent is open then it is the electriomechanical valve that diverts the air low to the feet or to the center vents or to the defroster getting intermittently stuck shut.

Thanks, however if it is sent to “vent,” what would cause it to work for the first hour of a trip and then slowing deplete to not working at all?

If it was a flapper I would think if it was working in the vent mode, it would continue to work unless I changed the location of the airflow…?

I am familiar with what you are referencing and I do use Apple CarPlay, however, even though I can hear the fan turning at full speed no air is emitted.
