Grille / headlight trim removal glue failure

I was trying to swap the grille of my G550 with a G63 grille and when I went to remove the headlight trim, the factory plastic (glue) welds failed causing the plastic fitment (bracket) to seperate from the body trim.

The little dots are the factory welds, and the layer over them is the apoxy layer i applied to get it to the dealer. They are refusing a warranty claim.

anyone ever experienced this?

I get wanting to do a simple swap like this yourself given the needless cost of paying someone to replace. That being said, when I get mine; stories like this are exactly why Im not touching the car until factory warranty runs out.
Other than minor cosmetics like ceramic coating/an extra set of winter wheels/dashcam/the AMG hood emblem.

I want the Akrapovic exhaust but will hold off on that until the 4 years are up as techs usually try to look for problems or attribute other problems to your mods as best as they can.

Yes, JB Weld or Gorilla glue and call it a day.

Not surprised they are refusing a warranty claim--it's not a manufacturer defect.

I'd cut your losses and get a Mercedes body shop to finish the job and put the grille you want in and attach the headlight surrounds correctly. Pay with cash and tell them not to report it to carfax.
