Then both are disappointing. Yes, I keep a case on my phone. A friend had a Tesla and it charged my phone with a case on it. I hope they have a software update to fix wireless car play.

The owners manual in my 21 said it did, but it was obviously a manual that was hacked from another vehicle.

How does the stereo perform to the last model? I am not to impressed with the stereo on my ‘21 G.

 

No option to add a scent

Stereo sounds great, I am using Apple Music through CarPlay. I have the bass at plus 2. This is my first G Wagen so I don’t have a comparison to y to the last model. I using it set to 3D.

 

Glad to hear about the stereo, that definitely sounds like an upgrade. Do you have the the 2,420 seat comfort plus package?

 

Yes - I have not played with it much, I did not notice cabin fragrance. It does have energizing comfort programs.

I will give it another try and report back.

 

No scent’s just music, seat massage, mood lighting and HVAC. From US Manual:

 

Got it, not that I care that much, but disappointed that they advertise it when you select the option on the configurator, then you don’t get it.

My 21 G550 owners manual also advertised launch control, which based on my owning experience and research, doesn’t exist in the 550. Come on Mercedes, stop cutting and pasting manuals and options on the website without proofreading them.

Road noise pretty good? How about augmented reality?

 

Road noise is pretty good (71 db at 80 MPH). Hardly any wind noise.

Augmented Reality Navigation is excellent. I really like it. Plus it allows you to use it as a built in dashcam for $200.

 

I was also going to ask about the Dashcam but didn’t want to overwhelm you with questions. My G did not come with the 200.00 Dashcam option when spaced, but all the research I have done states if you have augmented reality, you can unlock the Dashcam through the Mercedes me app for 200.

i asked my dealer and he said without initially having selected the Dashcam option when the vehicle was build, it would be extremely expensive and complicated to try to add it afterward.

I assume your cam was part of your initial build?

 

The Dashcam was not specified with my initial build. I just purchased it through the Mercedes Me app the evening I got it home and the Dashcam and Gallery app was available in the MBUX under the MB Apps icon the next morning. Works perfectly. You need a USB C memory stick plugged into one of the front ports. I plugged mine into the center console one. Gallary app lets you view the videos and the Dashcam app lets you set it up. I have mine setup to automatically start loop recording when you turn on the Wagen.

You can also purchase an automatic trailer parking app for $110.

 

FYI Dashcam is 1080P not 4K.

Having never owned a Mercedes before I did not initially realize you needed the “AC Rest” button turned on for AC to work. 🤷‍♂️

 

think of it like and A/C & a rest button. Operates like any other a/c button, unless you hit it after the car is off, then rest is activated.

how big of memory card did you get? Is it providing you enough record time before it records over it self?

 

256 GB - plenty of space.
