Selenite Grey looks amazing in person. I have a GTR in the Magno version of Selenite. Looks great in the sun. I saw a selenite G63 a few weeks ago. Excellent choice.

Thank you so much! I have seen photos and videos of G wagons in Selenite Grey, but only one in person so far and it confirmed my choice. Photos and videos just do not do it justice at all. I ended up going with the Night Package Plus, so having that black trim should look really nice in person. I was back and forth between that and Arabian Grey, but I really love the gun-metal grey look and darker color. I look forward to seeing it when it arrives in a few weeks.

Selenite is fantastic and works really well on the G. A good friend of mine had a 23 and it was always a pleasure to see. Particularly because not white, black or magno black, as noted above. In LA, you see a G every few minutes and they are almost always one of those three.

As for “different,” I’m not afraid of color! G was officially delivered (to us, at last) earlier today. Initial impression is that the new suspension package changes the game more than we could have expected.

Last plug for Desert Sand. It’s more brown in person. The photos make it look yellow and far less awesome than it is up close. Happy motoring, gentlemen!

I really appreciate your input on Selenite grey, but I have to say that I am now a bit envious of the Desert Sand. I absolutely love the color, it gives the G wagon such a presence and a bit old school and less "blingy". I have wanted a G wagon for years, but my only apprehension - aside from reliability - is the status factor and the potential attention it gets. I live about 50 miles from Boston in a more rural area, so I barely ever see a G wagon around at all.

This is why I went for Selenite Grey, though NOT as sharp and different as your choice, it is still a non-traditional gun-metal grey with the full Night Package Plus, so I am hoping it's a bit unique. I have only seen one G wagon in this color and it did stand out a bit.
I have only seen one G63 and one G550 in selenite and both looked great - nice pick! I'm partial to grey, my G63 is manufaktur graphite metallic and while some would argue its a boring dark "cloudy" grey color, I think it looks good.

Thanks for your input and confirmation. I love the Manufaktur Graphite Metallic, as it was in my top 3 choices for color. I think it looks fantastic, though I have only seen photos and videos in that color. Do you have the chrome or Night Package or Night Package Plus? I am really hoping this completes the look for my G wagon with all the black trim in Selenite grey. Thanks again!

I obviously don’t know you but I think you will be thrilled with the selenite and the black trim. It isn’t the typical black, matte black or white. It is a unique silver/grey that looks amazing in person. Especially in the sun.

I have seen the sand in person and it is awesome. Way nicer in person vs pictures or on the website. So many good color options to pick from outside of black and white. It makes the decision really hard.

I think so as well, the look changes so much with the Night Package Plus package, so I am hoping it really compliments the Selenite Grey. I also love Desert Sand, as I mentioned in a previous post, I bet it just looks so amazing in person. That is one thing I have noticed about these colors, the photos and videos just do NOT do them justice as seeing them in person. I had such a hard time picking the color..... but I knew it was NOT going to be white, matte black, or black. I opted for Tartufo Brown/Black nappa leather interior.

Selenite is—in a word—chic. Not offensive at all. It just looks good.

That said, I would (personally) choose Magnetite over Selenite. It’s more interesting and isn’t gray or black or blue or any other one single color.

If you do go Selenite, Night Pack or bust!

I felt the same way when I first started PPF’ing my cars. I’ve been going to the same shop since 2020 and the guy who works on it has been meticulous with his work. The end product always comes out seamless since he doesn’t use pre-cuts.

This is my 3rd vehicle (full PPF and tint) that’s been worked on by him and luckily, I haven’t dealt with broken clips, or trim pieces coming off years after completion.

Oh thats wonderful that you have such a careful installer. Detailers of Naples in FL does my work but I'm up in NC until October. They do AMAZING work!!! On my new G550 I'm only going to PPF the headlights and the immediate front facing areas, unless they recommend in their experience other sections that need coverage.

On most of my other vehicles I've done full hood, fenders, rockers, mirrors etc...But I don't think due to the straight sides and wide flairs and high flat hood that those areas need covering....

What brand PPF are you doing? I have only used Xpel Ultimate Plus

Here's a shout out to Detailers of Naples: https://detailersofnaples.com

Congratulations. How much did they quote you for full PPF? Does it include ceramic coating on top?

If you do PPF I think it's best to do full front. The two places I ended up getting rock chips were the vertical face of the hood right above the Benz logo and the painted corner right below the windshield.

That’s awesome to hear—sounds like you’ve got a great shop down there in Naples! I’ve heard nothing but good things about XPEL and totally agree with your approach on selective coverage based on the vehicle’s shape and design.

For my past two vehicles, I also went with XPEL Ultimate Plus and had a great experience. This time around, I’m trying something new—went with Rayno OnyxShield PPF on the G63. Curious to see how it holds up, especially with the gloss and self-healing properties. I’ll definitely share some feedback once I get more miles on it!

Let me know how your G550 turns out—I bet it’s going to look incredible

Appreciate it! Tbh, I never asked for a quote and told my buddy to run with it. Told him I wanted full PPF / tint and to also add PPF on some of the interior pieces that commonly get scratched.

Using my past cars for reference (Levante - 9k, M5 - 7k), I’m sure the cost will be more for the 63. However, this includes paint correction (to include brand new from dealership) and ceramic coating applied on PPF.

I’ll reach back when I pick up my car and get the invoice.

I agree! My dealer told me the same thing, but with my wife driving it and my 7-month year old, I decided go overboard with the coverage lol.

Thank you so much—I really appreciate the kind words! I’m beyond excited to finally start enjoying it once the PPF is all wrapped up. Just reached back to my buddy and he said it would be ready in APR.

Congrats on your incoming G63! That’s going to be an awesome feeling when it arrives. Definitely post some pictures once you take delivery—I’d love to see your spec, especially with the Night Package Plus. Sounds like it’s going to be a stunner!
