Depreciation difference of 2019-2024 G550 vs G63
Lastly, the AMG models being "hand built" is often quoted but aren't the G550 built on the same plant and under the same assembly line?

The internals are not identical in many instances (many changes may be just part numbers and stickers).
As for resale? If that is a concern...well, cars are never, not ever good investments.
In general the G63 retains its value better than the G550 due to the higher demand but since the 2019-2024 models are the last time we will see a V8 in the 550 that model does seem to be retaining it’s value a bit better. However, overall the market has softened and resale has come down... IMO it’s a great time to purchase a CPO G.

2016-2024 G550 are all m176. These are assembly built engines and there are some manual overrides but these are more or less considered assembly built (as against hand built).
2016+ G63 are all m177. M177 are individually assembled by a technician in "one man, one engine" principle at the AMG manufacturing center at Affalterbach.
m178 engines are dedicated to AMG GT line of cars.
