Your money and you get to decide where it goes. The dealer and Mercedes has no control over U.S. Federal taxation policy. While I do not support any increased taxation or barriers to doing business, the reality is that this cost to the importer is paid by the importer and you will just pay a higher retail price so their profitability remains nearly the same (perhaps they give a tiny bit). Do not look at it as you are paying a tariff, but that you now have a higher retail price because someone else is now paying a higher tax. When a salesman that likely has very little clue to economics says a customer is responsible for tariffs, its disingenuous and they should be stating exactly as it is. When goods Ive produced were subject to higher tariffs previously, the retail customer never saw anything related to a tariff on their receipt, we the producer paid a higher price to the importer that was responsible to pay the tax to the tax men. I find misleading statements to furthering of ignorant mindsets that then become vomitous. This is similar to how there have been news segments claiming American taxpayers have collected more tariffs than ever before...as if we the taxpayer are collecting tariffs.

If you want a new nice vehicle, its going to have an increased tax. If you can deal with Ford quality, you'll pay a lesser tax. I would not choose the Ford due to a tax. Nevermind any other crap American brand. What you can do is refuse to pay an ADM and support a dealer that is decent.

If it’s at MSRP and dealer allows deposit to be refunded, I would put an order in and roll the dice. Worst case pass on it when it arrives. How much is dealer asking for deposit?

Lots of time between now and December for things to change.

Thanks of the input....I didn't ask if it was refundable, but when I ordered my 2025 G550, the deposit was $5,000.

I passed on buying a $9K mountain bike due to the tariffs. I think if enough people say no, something has to give. Who the hell knows, but the tariffs was a terrible terrible idea.

If I were you I would've kept the allocation and spec'd out the vehicle, you still got 5~6 months to contemplate and have the first right of refusal. FYI my dealer asked for a $1000 refundable deposit back when I ordered my '25 G63.

Then again, if everyone backs out of the deal due to tariff concerns, perhaps that just might make ADM on the G class a thing of the past...but it's probably just wishful thinking on my part.

This.

The dealers are scared the gravy train of ADM is likely going away and so they preface the conversation with “the tariffs are why you’re paying more”. Kim Kardashian will still buy one, but people with a brain will (or should) hold the line.
