G Cabriolet!
Thanks for posting.
I think this would do very well as a limited model—I don’t mean like only 99 but like the 1980s edition G550. Make it limited and people who would be on the fence would buy it just because.
I think it would collect dust like G580s if it’s a regular production model.

Mercedes released three images of a prototype G-Class Cabriolet with relatively little camouflage -- an article from CarScoops with the photos is included below.
The article mentions the G Cabriolet will be a special edition, although there is no indication yet as to how many units will be produced, which powertrains will be offered, or when the Cabriolet will make its public debut. Looking forward to seeing more details on this one!

Funny that they wrapped the two little bumper trim pieces as if they're trying to obscure it...wonder what that's all about.
I do think the 5 door setup looks better than the previous 3 door cabriolets.

MBPassion posted an article today with some tidbits about the upcoming G Cabriolet: https://mbpassion.de/2026/02/g-klass...-2027-zurueck/
Three main takeaways, according to their article:
-The G Cabriolet will be a regular production vehicle and not a strictly limited edition
-As suggested in the preview photos, the new Cabriolet will have rear doors; it will not be a 2-door variant
-The G Cabriolet will not debut until next year -- their article suggests the second half of 2027, in fact
It will be interesting to see how much of this pans out; have found their site to be well-sourced and quite accurate in the past.
