G63 exhaust noise

Hello!

I have a ‘23 g63 and installed a Fi exhaust on it roughly 4 months ago. It has started to get cooler where I live and noticed that I hear small pops when I take my foot off the gas and am coming to a stop. Nothing obnoxious or super loud but can definitely hear the rumbling and small pops. First time I’m noticing it and wanted to see if anybody else has the same pops.

no check engine light and flaps seem to be working properly. Might be over thinking it but wanted to make sure it’s not a bigger issue. Thanks in advance for any insight

You will notice more crackles/pops with aftermarket exhaust. Particularly if you accelerate some and then let off the gas quickly. It's unburnt fuel burning in the exhaust instead of inside the cylinder. A lot of people ike that feature of aftermarket exhausts. It can even happen on the stock exhaust, particularly if you are in Sport+ and accelerate and let off quickly. It's just more muted.

That's totally normal, especially with an aftermarket exhaust. The FI system is less restrictive, so when the engine is cold and the computer is running a richer fuel mixture, you'll hear that unburnt fuel popping in the hot exhaust on deceleration. It's a classic performance exhaust sound. As long as there's no check engine light and it drives fine, it's just the exhaust doing its thing. Enjoy the soundtrack.

Thank you both for the response!

Gives me some peace of mind. Also with how sensitive the exhaust actuators and sensors are, would expect a CEL if something was even slightly off.
