Engine Squeak - Help Identifying
Looking for input from anyone who’s run into this. I’ve got a 2021 G63 (34k miles) and I’m hearing a metal-on-metal, hinge-like squeak that I'm trying to diagnose so I can be prescriptive with the dealer visit. I’ve attached a short video that captures both the sound and its location.
Here’s what I’ve confirmed so far:
- The noise comes from behind the turbos, between the turbos and the firewall.
- It happens consistently at shutdown, and also when decelerating or slowing into a left-hand turn, especially after throttle lift.
- It sounds exactly like a dry metal hinge or pivot.
- Doesn’t happen when parked on an incline.
- Car drives fine otherwise — no codes or loss of power.
- Turbocharger bypass (diverter) valves
- Wastegate arm / pivot linkage
Has anyone here experienced this?
If so, did it end up being the diverter valves, wastegate pivots, or something else entirely?
Would love to hear what fixed it for you — parts, grease, or replacement.
Thanks in advance for any insight!
