2013 G 63 AMG
Yeah, looks like there will be no more G-Class in the US after the Grand Edition this year, but production and sales will continue outside the US for a few more years due to high demand. The question is whether they will adapt things like the new engines, 7-speed transmission, updated COMAND, etc. or keep it as is. They will probably have to do some updates as the current components are no longer used in any other model. They did the same thing in 2001 when the G-Class received it's current interior.

so i think hes just living it up on MBworld with dad's toys. hes having fun so who cares. i dont hate him i just call things the way they are.
and yes i still want to know what kind of an idiot sells a 30k modded G55k (at a huge loss) to only go off and buy another one months later. the dmv and local showroom must love it when he walks in!
some people just more money than places to stick it.

That sounds more like money laundering to me than anything else. Fot all we know, his parents could be the front of some organization in Indonesia.

The US will continue to get the G until 2010
I hate to spoil your "Grand Edition" but there is a VERY high probability that if production is continued until 2010 they WILL be sold in the USA. Much of the huge demand to keep the truck alive has come from owners here in the USA. Futhermore, the new AMG 6.3 engine will probably be fitted and the G55 along w/ most of the current batch of AMG 55 cars will be obsolete.
Here's some info on the engine

...........I understand your point, but if 2005 represents the only year that the G55 V8K will be made, i submit that it is destined to be a classic. Also, notice that the compression ratio of the new 6.3L AMG engine is 11.3 to 1. That is in the BMW range and makes forced induction with a s/c a bit dangerous. This is why there are few supercharged M5's. The Current AMG V8K engines produce considerably more torque than the new 6.3L AMG engines. My point is that you may be wrong about the current AMG 55 cars becoming obsolete.

Now the problem is the transmission. Are they still using the 5 speed auto instead of the 7 speed in the AMG K cars? Mercedes needs to play catch-up and get a transmission capable of handling this power. I'll hope for a manual also.......
My message was more directed at the guy who has to have everything and then trades it 2 months later. Most likely the G will continue to 2010 and this Grand Edition G55K will be for sale like his last G55K.
