Just wondering how you G guys are gonna feel.
If they do torch your current look for the one below....it would surely be one of the most dramatic model changes in Benz history. From "one of a kind" to "larger M class" Just wondering what you guys think. Still think it won't be named G class though.
New G Class
article......
Mercedes-Benz is in gear to ad an all-new 4x4 model, the G-Class, to its line-up. The giant G-Class will slot in above the M-Class and will offer space for seven passengers. We have scoop spy photos!
Despite rumours that this big 4x4 will be named the G-Class, conflicting reports have it that Mercedes could badge it as the MLX.
However, time will tell what it will be named and it is expected that DaimlerChrysler will unveil the G-Class at the 2006 Detroit Motor Show. This big SUV will share its underpinnings with that of the M-Class and new R-Class models.
The vehicle will also be built alongside the M-Class and R-Class at the Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant in the United States where most of the G-Class models will be sold.
This 4x4 will feature air suspension and the same engine line-up as that of the R-Class. Therefore expect to see the 3.5-litre V6 and 5-litre V8 petrol engines as well as Merc's new diesel units.
It will also get Merc's new 6.3-litre V8 AMG engine which has an output of 375 kW at 6 800 r/min. plus a maximum torque of 630 Nm.
Pricing for the G-Class will probably be close to R1-million.
A third model will join Merc's SUV line-up in 2007 when the MLK goes on sale. This "baby" softroader will rival the BMW X3 and the upcoming Audi Q5.
