.............the suspension of the 2003 G55 is quite harsh. In 2005, the G55 suspension was changed to something less harsh but not as soft as g500. This for me, was the perfect balance and unlike my previous 03 g55, I did not change the suspension on he 05. If you desire to change the suspension, the springs are the same, you simply swap the shocks with ones from a G500. So ricky.agrawal's point is a good one, but may not be a reason not to buy an 05 g55.

I am seriously considering buying one (G55), any sources regarding deals, selections etc. If I can't find one I'll have to settle for a G500.
It seems (according to dealers) quite a number of these cars (G55s) have been sent as "floaters" to China, and Mercedes is trying to stamp out the practice.
The good news is that my 03 was undriveable because of ESP problems, and I tried an 05 G500 yesterday. Within "sane" limits I could not trigger the ESP, so Mercedes must have had a quiet fix.
