Good alternative for G55 tire
I just swapped the standard Yokohama AVS S/T tires on my G55 for the newer Yokohama ADVAN S.T. at the same size (285/55 R18) and I must say I have never been more impressed with a tire upgrade on any car I've owned. In the past week I've noticed the following:
- MUCH quieter, the AVS S/T's are infamous for being noisy
- Smoother and more comfortable at higher speeds.
- Cornering grip is amazing, but that could just be because the tires are new
- Work better in soft sand because the less aggressive tread pattern doesn't dig as much
I haven't driven in the wet yet so can't comment on that. I'll post some pics of what they look like once I wash the car.

...........thanks for the information. The tirerack revies are also excellent and are consistent with the info you provided. Do you thing that going 285/50/18 will offer any additional benefit in conering stability?

I don't think you'll notice much difference, except that your speedometer and traction control system might not be accurate anymore. Also the weight/load rating on that size is lower than on the 285/55 R18.
I would have preferred to go to 295/50 R18 if that size was made, but it's not.

Jimmy, do you go in the desert with it?
I also live in Dubai And only see Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol in the desert. And they are so many G55K in the street.
