Help with gwagon info

I am in the market searching for a g55, I know they made them from 03 up until now and I believe 05 was the first year to have the kompressor. What I really want to know is whats the difference between all these years, like what are the cons of buying a 2003 or 2004 g55, this seems to be the only car that doesn’t go out of style if a few of you guys know what I mean. Im also considering a 03 or 04 because of the price just wanted to know if these cars have allot of issues and what not. Sorry if some of this doesn’t make sense, it’s late and im headed to bed just thought I would post this up before I forget.

My fathers G55 is a 2001 model (no kompressor obviously). That would mean production began before '03 right?

Don't get a pre 2005 G55.

2005+ years are the only ones worth getting IMO.

Help with G Wagon

IMHO they are all great, just different:

My first G55 was a 2003, in 4 years I put 140K road miles on the vehicle. In 2005 I purchased my 2nd G wagon and in 2007 I purchased yet another G55 and traded in my 2003.

1. 2003 lower to the ground, fun to drive and reliable.
2. 2005 Somewhat softer ride and a Kick with the Kompressor and extra HP.
3. 2007 Updated Nav, Bi-Zenon's, even more Kick, pedal feel is different than the 05.

While I purchased each of these vehicles new, I think a G55 is one of the best used car buys available today. I got all of 38K for trade in value from my 03 this year at 140K miles. I kept the car in immaculate condition and rarely went off road as I do a ton of interstate travel.

The G wagon has never stranded me no matter what conditions, I did have an alternator failure on the 03 and was able to drive 50 miles to a dealer with ample warning.

Hope this helps

I don't think mercedes made a g55 in 01. Certainly not a US model if they did. In the US they started in 03.

AMG variants of the G-Class have been available outside the US for more than a decade. The first one was the G36 in the early 90's, I believe. I'm not sure if the earlier 500GE was produced by AMG. I had a 1991 300GE with a Brabus 3.6.
