Production has been stopping for years. Remember the commemorative 2005, the last of the run cars. Right before the announced the GL. bla bla bla, they're never going to stop

I remember when I bought my 05 the salesman was telling me that was the last year they were going to be made....now I hear that they will be built until 2012....

I heard the reason they kept making G wagons after 2005 was since the G-Wagon is hand made, the government of Austria got involved and wanted the factory workers who made these cars in Graz to still have jobs..so they persuaded Mercedes benz into producing the G-wagon again!

That's not true. Orders for the the military version of the G-Class extend past 2020, and the civilian version is selling better than ever and at very high margins. It's about business, not government pressure. That factory also builds many other vehicles including BMW X3, Jeep Cherokee, etc.
