G-class remains in production until 2015!
Taken from a Dutch MB forum on 27-2-2009:
Mercedes-Benz and the Austria based Magna Steyr announced today the G-class will remain in production at least until the end of 2015. Magna Steyr has already produced over 200,000 units of the 30-years-ongoing G-class...
Nothing is mentioned about AMG or AMG versions however but since the AMG versions are the top sellers it's a good bet these will also remain available?!

This must mean 2 things:
1. We will probably see a diesel version of the Gelaendewagen in the USA.
2. We will probably see some variation of the new 6.3 V-8 in a upcoming AMG version.

2013 G 63 AMG
Customers in Europe and the Middle East can custom order a G65 V12 from AMG, but it costs more than 200k Euros so they produce very few. I know one person in Dubai who has one. In terms of performance, it is not much better than the current G55 Kompressor, so the only people who would buy it are those who want it as a status symbol.
