G55 Steering Shake

G55 Steering Shake
If I drive at highway speeds in the morning after the car has been sitting overnight (outside), the steering shakes pretty violently for the first few miles, then settles down. I am assuming that the heavy weight and the soft tires create an out of round condition that remedies itself after the tires warm up.
Anybody else have a similar experience?

I am experiencing this as well. Dealer said there are flat spots on the front tires but it doesn't make sense because the car is driven daily and never left in one spot for long periods of time.

donc, you don't mention which model year of G55 you have. If it's got 18" rims with Yokohama AVS S/T tires, those are prone to developing flat spots. Swap them for the newer Yohohama Advan S/T and you'll have fewer problems, quieter ride, and better handling and braking distance.

Thanks. Tires aren't worn yet, so I won't be switching in the near future, but it sounds like I'll just "drive through it" until things warm up.
By the way, it is an '07 with 18 inch and Yoko AVS's.
All that said, maybe the coolest car I've ever owned!

There is a steering dampener that absorbs excess vibration from road imperfections. If you have had the wheels balanced and tires are at the suggested air pressure, I suggest you do the steering dampener. I have the same problem and that's where I stopped with my research.

As I recall Bilstein offers a steering damper so you might want to look into that rather than the MB part.
