My G63 is on her way!

My G55 did not come with that cargo net; but it does have the location / parts to support it. Is this a retractable cargo net? I assume this isn't standard on US Spec G55s but can anyone confirm. Also, part number? This could be useful to keep kids out of the back, and dog in the back.

What other colors are available with the Exclusive Leather?
I guess if you felt up to it, you can always order the 65 headrest skins and apply it to your car! Is it just for the front two headrests?
What do the seat badges say?

The differences are quite noticeable:
- Feels faster, more powerful, and definitely more eager. Some combination of increased low-down torque and the new gearbox are probably responsible.
- Ride quality is significantly improved over my 2010 G55...less harsh over bumps and handles the corners as well or maybe even better.
- Brake feel is different, much sharper...but I haven't pushed them yet. Braking distance was always limited by weight and tire grip.
- Less road noise
- Exhaust note is noticeably different...more throaty and lower RPMs, quieter at higher RPMs, and you get some snap-crackle-pop on the overrun.
- Front dome lights are now replaced by warm white LEDs which are much nicer than the previous bulbs...additional LED lights are also used for interior lighting
- Illuminated door sills are now white instead of blue
- Rear license plate lights are now cool white LEDs
- There's no driver's cup holder and no obvious way to add one...yet
- No more jump seats in the rear, though perhaps they can still be added
I've still got another 750 miles to go before the break-in period is over and I get the differential oil change done...after that I'll provide more feedback on performance and off-road (sand) capability. One thing I have noticed that concerns me is that there is a warning sticker that says the diff locks can only be engaged in low range, which was never the case before. I hope that's not true because in the desert I normally use high range with the center diff locked.

Is it VERY quiet at all road speeds I've been at [up to 110 mph so far]. You can hear the exhaust and all but the cabin is well isolated from outside.

Have you had the jump seats in your previous G Wagens? If so, how's the comfort level back there? Can you go on a roadtrip with children/ adults or is it more for convenience when running around town and needing to carry extra passengers?

I found the new 63 biturbo engines on the 13 CLS63 lags at low rpms. Same with the 12 S550 with 4.6 biturbo, I'd rather prefer the older N/A engines. Do you mean the 7 gear automatic is the case of this?

The rear jump seats were standard on all G-wagens sold in the UAE until the 2013 model year. Now they are no longer available even as an option, but you can still order the parts. I don't know if the mounting points are still there in the 2013's. Having said that, they were not very useful. No seat belts, not enough headroom for adults, etc. They were OK for a short journey where you need to fit two extra adults or four children in the back...but there were the obvious safety risks. I only used them 3-4 times in the past 16 years of G-Class ownership.
In terms of turbo lag, I've only driven 250 miles and most of that was highway so I haven't really noticed it.

Wow I'm surprised MB would release the jump seats with no seat belts. I know from the pictures I've seen, they're equipped with lap belts. Odd.
On your previous G Wagens, were they also trimmed in the same quality leather as the rest of the cabin?

Hey Jimmy another question on the interior upholstery for you. A local dealer got the G63 in a few days ago (already sold) and it has the standard G63 Designo interior. I noticed that the leather on the dash and door panels are an open pour design (large grains) instead of the fine grain Nappa leather found on the seats. The leather on the dash and door panels is noticeably not as soft/ supple as the seats. Do you find this to be the case with the Exclusive Designo package? Or is it the same leather used on the seats and dash?
