G55 paddleshift retrofit

Hello, I'm looking to buy a 2010 G55 and was disapointed as it doesnt have paddle shifts. Does anyone ever managed to retrofit a steering wheel with paddles and activated it? (I did that on my VW jetta)
Tks!

Whoa you have an R63 AMG as well?

Does your 2010 G have the black shift buttons? Or does it have any shifting buttons at all?

......I know that this has been done in a W210 E55. Those don't have pre-existing shift buttons. Obviously easier to do if the car already has steering wheel shift buttons like the W211 E55 where several people have done this. Interesting idea. If the system deviced does not have automatic downshifts, using it can get tedious in a vehicle like the G55

Yep. Also been done on the R170 SLK with no buttons what so ever. I just did it on my R which had buttons and it was very easy in my install, whereas a W211 with buttons is more complicated.

I regularly use the + and - selector on the gearshift. I'd prefer a paddle but you get used to anything. It is surprisingly responsive

....understood. It's just that in other cars that like lambo's and Ferrari's with paddle shifters and no gear shift knob, the car automatically down shifts for you to the correct gear when you slow down. You can still downshift yourself if you choose such as bleeping the throttle etc. I suppose in the G55 if you get tired of downshifting you can just go back to fully automatic mode
