Hi All.....looking for information on changing out interior trim pieces on the G63 from poplar wood to black piano wood. I've called two different local authorized dealers and they don't seem to have that information readily available. TIA

Hey just to be more clear, "piano black" is really just black lacquer wood- the same process used on pianos.

But in some instances of "piano black trim" on some MBs, it's just black plastic.

Confused. Is it wood or plastic? Black lacquered wood is still wood, isn't? As in black lacquer applied on wood.

When you say "but in some instances", do you mean that MB uses wood in some and plastic in others?

So the Designo Piano Black trim is wood with a black lacquer finish.

Other MBs such as the E63's gear shift area which is piano black trim (regardless of the interior trim selected such as carbon fiber or burlwood) is just black plastic, despite being called piano black trim.

You'll never find an MB with a full interior trim in plastic piano black- those instances will be real wood. Just some small trim pieces on some not top of the line MBs will be plastic.
