Just bought a 2008 G55K
Got a pretty decent deal on it. It has almost 70k miles but I got price down to 55k.
I spent some time thinking about doing a comand upgrade to latest version but then I realized, the entire comand system has no 'car' integration. Its just a stereo with navigation and a phone. Its not like in my 2007 S550 where you can change settings for the car in comand. With that, there really is no reason to pay a ton of money to move to latest comand when you can just install a vastly superior Double-Din from alpine or pioneer.
Anyways, wanted to ask- What are the most common mechanical upgrades done to the car?
ECU Tune? (which one? how much HP gained?)
New Intercooler+pump?
New Pulleys
New Headers

Suggest you drive it for a while to get used to it's performance.
You'll probably find that it's quick enough without any additional modding.

Checkout the w211 e55 forum. Similar engine, pulley tune headers heat exchanger upgrade etc.... Njoy the truck. I'm in the market for a Jetski tow vehicle. It's between a used g55 used ml63 and a new ml550.
