Valentine V1 Radar Detector
Hi, was looking to purchase this for my G55. They told me that a metal tint kills radar and laser range. A plastic tint does not affect radar.
My question is - what does my stock G55 have? A metal or plastic tint?

Stock tint on the rear window only should not pose an issue. I have had a V1 for years and never had an issue. I also tint the windshiled and have never had an issue.

Your G does not have a metalized UV protecting front windshield so you don't need to worry about that with your radar. I have the metalized windshield on my R but MB put some voids in it so you can still run a radar without affecting performance that much.
Other MBs with metalized windshields are some GLs, S, and CL.
