Front Windshield Seal / Rust & Paint Bubbling

Hmmm.. 2010 G55.

Noticed this a few weeks ago and dismissed it thinking it was tree sap but over the weekend, and upon closer inspection, I found about 3" wide strip of small paint bubbling and some minor rust corrosion underneath. This is directly under the rubber seal of the front windshield on the drivers side. Took it to a body shop and he said that it's not the first time he's seen this issue. They suggested to ignore it and leave it be after giving me a $1200 quote to repair. Said the removal / replacement of the front window was not trivial on these cars. Seems either the paint / seal wasn't done properly.

Anyone else witness this on their trucks?

Yes! I am having the same exact issue with the paint bubbling on the passenger side and it looks horrible. I am trying to get this sorted now. Hopefully its not too expensive. I have rust all over the car as well and its only a 2009 which is garaged every night. I'm thinking that it might have to do with the large amounts of snow fall we saw last season in the northeast.

The quote i got was so expensive because they have to remove the windshield, replace the gasket and apparently these are not trivial tasks. MB offers a 10 year warranty on rust in EU but not sure what the policy here in the USA/NA market covers. Dealer told me to bring it by the service center but haven't had a chance to take it over. Keep me posted. I'll do the same.

My dealer is going to correct the issue even though it is technically not covered under warranty. The issue had become progressively worse over time so I'm thankful they are covering the repair.

Finally took the car in to have the repair completed. Body shop reported that there was more damage than they initially thought once they scraped away the paint to expose the rust under the bubbling paint. More information as I have it but to anyone seeing a similar problem you may want to get this checked out sooner than later.
