G55 AMG New Owner
Hello All,
I just purchased a 2008 G55 AMG. I'm in Topeka, KS. I also own a '05 SLK 350. Any tips or tricks I should know about my new ride? Also, I just tried to order (from a dealer) the adapter (??) to make my iphone work and they are back ordered with no ETA. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Congrats! Just buy a Bluetooth adapter on eBay there are tons of them listed and 1/2 the price of new. Just make sure you buy the correct one

Thanks for the feedback! I ended up getting the real mc coy from MB. They called me back before I saw your posts. The phone works great. But I couldn't get it to recognize music stored on my iphone. I also ordered the new software and should have it this week. I'm hoping that does the trick. I also have an SLK350. First thing I did when I bought it was replace the head unit with a Pioneer. It finds my music just fine. If the new dvd doesn't work for the G55, I'll probably get a new head unit for it as well. Any ideas on this?

Congratulations! I switched to pioneer as well (plus JL audio speakers all around powered by new amp). Seamless integration with steering wheels controls etc. too.
I'm on my second one. Lots of little stuff on the G... Things like keeping your door seals & locks lubricated using the MB silicone paste to avoid sqeeking, perfect precise wheel balance very important as the W463 is 1000 times more sensitive than most cars & trucks. Countless vibration issues, wobbles etc attributed to that.

I just recently changed upgraded the speakers and amp as well. I got Focals and I'm very happy with the sound. I appreciate your feedback on the G. First thing I did was take it to my mechanic to have a thorough inspection. He did a tranny service and put new tires on. I went with PirelliScorpions. My mechanic also mentioned the wheel balance importance - good to know he's on his toes! I'll do oil changes and balancing 5K miles. Also have the terribly annoying squeaking - it makes me crazy. I will mention the silicon to him on next service. Thanks for the tip! So far I absolutely love it! My little SLK350 is a ton of fun to drive but highly impractical. It has a standard tranny and sits so low to the ground. The G on the other hand sits up so high I can see forever! And it's kinda nice to have an automatic again. I always have a either coffee or water in my hand making the stick shift kind of a pain sometimes...even though the convertible is a blast to drive - worst cup holders EVER!!! For your daily dose of humor... I have always called my 350 the lil diva, now I'm calling my G the beast!
