Need help and advice.
Does anyone know what this goldish stain is about? I test drove this 2005 super low mile 1 owner today and The vehicle seems perfectly fine in everyway except for this stain. Anyone seen this before?

My guess would be the vehicle was rustproofed and the spray inside the hood (bonnet) has run down on the intake .

Looks like Cosmoline that wasn't completely removed by dealer and baked on. If it's Cosmoline, Prepsol and a wire brush should take care of it. Depending on the discoloration you most likely will have to paint to restore to new. There was a commercial aviation solvent product that would clean it off but the EPA banned it in the US.
I have three go to products for residue.
1. Acetone which works great on removing paint from bedliners and over spray. Least aggressive which I try first.
2. Brakleen for grease, and brake fluid stains and suspension parts.
3. Lacquer thinner, most aggressive, be careful near painted surfaces.
Needless to say don't try this on a hot engine.
