G55 vs GL63

Hey guys..I live in Mumbai, India and planning on picking up an suv which can satisfy my adrenaline needs
so currently my 2 options are a 2011g55amg (58000km) and a 2016gl63amg (46000km)
the price for both is in a similar ballpark
as per performance and comfort the gl63 is a clear winner but the history and my love for the gwagon has not let me come to a final decision

to ad the gl63 is a stock car
whereas the g55 has been hacelifted to the 2020 model
- 2019 Mercedez AMG steering wheel
-alpha Romeo gear shifter
-full exterior brabus kits

Have you driven both? That should be the starting point as the two will ride completely different although they serve a similar purpose for your needs.

The GL63 will be much more comfortable and livable day to day. The technology will be much better, and there will be a lot more space and creature comforts.

The GL63 twin turbo motor will be faster, but the G55 motor should be more reliable in the long term as the M113K is known to be one of the most reliable motors from Mercedes. All depending on keeping up to date with maintenance and any issues that pop up.

The G55 will ride harsher, be less comfortable, have less tech and creature comforts, etc. But that is part of the charm of a G. It was made as an off road truck with some extra leather here and there.

The G55 will also hold its value much better than the GL63. You can probably count on the G55 losing little value over the next 5 years in depreciation alone, vs the GL63 will probably lose about 1/3 to 1/2 it's value without even driving it. Look up prices for older models of both to compare how they depreciate.

In the end, you'll have to drive both and see if the G will suit your wants, how you will be using it, where you will be driving it, etc. Of course, I will recommend the G55, but my opinion is biased.
