*2007 G55 *bumpy ride problem..

Hi guys I am new here, just got a 2011 G55, I think the ride is very bumpy and rough…
is there a cheap solution to this? For example,
does the 2012+ G63 spring and shocks fit on the 2007 G55??

Thanks guys!

Hello,

This is your solution. The G63 shocks and springs will be same. All G's, especially the G63 ride is rough. This KW setup gives you 3 adjustable dampening settings so you can ride soft or hard depending on the road conditions.

We have this IN STOCK. DM us for member special. Thank you!

For the best comfort and least $, the best solution is to switch to G500/550 springs, then Bilstein B4 OEM replacement shocks for the G500/550. For a more aggressive setup than the G500/550, but still softer than the harsh G55 suspension, the G63 springs and shocks also will work (Note - The G55 and G63 REAR springs are the same, so no need to purchase or swap them).

Then you have a whole bunch of aftermarket shock and spring options depending on what you're looking for.

thanks very much for your input!
I do not want to spend too much money, I want to maintain the aggressiveness of the g55 but improve a bit ride quality, so I guess the g63 setup would be good ?
as you said, I only need to purchase the front shocks and springs, and the rear shocks from the 2012-2015g63 right?

Correct.

For a lower-cost option vs the G63 OEM shock, but equally as good quality, you can go with a Bilstein B46 that is slightly stiffer than the B4 OEM G500/550 replacements. Bilstein does make a B8 shock (even stiffer) but I don't believe they make them for the W463 application. There are other mono-tube replacements that may fit the bill that may be a better deal than the Bilstein OE-like replacements. I would talk to Jack @ JackWagonOverlanding to see what is available. You can also retain your G55 front springs if you only plan to stick with an OEM type shock (no longer travel) to save costs for purchasing springs and (much) less complicated install.

My personal view is that the G63 springs are still too stiff for the G, and that if I had to do it over again, I would go with G500/550 springs (if I was not going to lift). This may be a combination of many things like, the Fox 2.0 shocks are too soft when adjusted in the softer half for the G63 springs so they don't match well, the roads in my area are just that bad, my back is just too old, etc. Your needs/wants and results may vary.

I think a good idea would be to find a G63 local to you that you can test drive (tell the sales person you're thinking of upgrading and trading in your G55) so you can feel the difference in ride between the G55 and G63. The shocks are the biggest difference between the 2 as the springs are the same in terms of stiffness, with the exception that the G63 front springs are 1" taller (The G55 has more of a raked stance). If you feel the ride on the G63 is good enough for you, then your purchase direction will be easier. It probably also wouldn't be difficult finding used OE G63 shocks that someone has removed on the forums (here or others) and they can probably be had for pretty cheap.

Good luck!
