Unknowingly bought Extremely Rare Firemist Red G55AMG
According to MB database, there were only two 2005 G55s imported to US in this color. 1 was for Europe.
1 - G500
1 - G65
5 cars total for W463 variants factory painted Firemist Red in the world.
One of 2 US imported was stolen in 2006 and ended up in Canada two years later and possibly later went to Europe with branded title.
So just happened that mine is the Only one in US.
So here is the question!
currently it has 125,000 miles, was always serviced at MB dealer, mechanically is in top shape, no rust on undercarriage. BUT clear coat has seen better days so ideally it needs a full repaint.
I saw a couple years ago there was a Mars Red G55 which is not as rare but had 41k miles on it and was sold for $94,000 on BaT. Which is significantly higher than what the market was at the time for similar G55 in more common color.
considering all this aforementioned information if I was to get a premium repaint to spec with all new trims - basically full restoration to showroom condition.
How much would this beauty be worth?
I am asking bc I want to know how to budget this restoration project and if it’s even worth the investment.

Wow definitely do not see that color. It’s a G Wagon so even if it doesn’t go up in value, it will hold good. It’s something you can buy, drive and not loose too much on at this price point/time.

Jay Leno’s garage is incredible, one of his best investments since a few of his cars appreciated 10x over time!
