MANUFAKTUR Interior Package Plus (DD5) vs Exclusive Interior Package Plus (DB3)

Can someone please explain to me the difference in these two packages? I see DD5 is $8,250 in the 2024 Ordering Guide and the DB3 is $7,400. My presumption is the MANUFAKTUR comes with "higher quality" leather? Or is it something else?

Also, looks like you can't get standard black leather with DD5?

Thank you!

Would love if anyone had any info on this.... about to order a 2024 for my wife and she's considering Classic Red vs Bengal Red. Per the Ordering Guide, Classic Red is available as an Exclusive Nappa Leather (827 - no charge), which requries Exclusive Interior Package Plus (DB3 - $7400). And Bengal Red is available as a MANUFAKTUR Signature Exclusive Single Tone Nappa Leather (927 - no charge), which requires MANUFAKTUR Interior Package Plus (DD5 - $8250).

Both DB3 and DD5 list out the SAME items they include (PK2 - Seat Comfort Package, and P77 - MANUFAKTUR Interior Package Plus). So what's the difference in price for? Is one a better quality leather than the other (regardless of color)? Any info would be most appreciated. Thank you!

Hello -- This is an excellent question. While I am a longtime lurker and first time poster here, based on my research of the order guides for the 2024 model year and before, the Manufaktur package is needed to "unlock" specific colors, stitching, and design/appearance options.

-With the Exclusive Interior Package Plus (DB3), a person is limited to a choice of four color combinations for the seats and dashboard: Black/Black, Macchiato Beige/Espresso Brown, Classic Red/Black, and Tartufo Brown/Black (seat/dashboard color, respectively)

-With the Exclusive Interior Package Plus, contrast stitching is not available

-With the Exclusive Interior Package Plus, the dashboard is a single color (in other words, a two-tone dashboard is unavailable)

-With the Manufaktur Interior Package Plus (DD5), one can opt for Black seats, a Black dashboard, and one of six contrast stitching colors

-With the Manufaktur Interior Package Plus, one can choose Black seats, a Black dashboard, and one of three contrasting "A-band" colors for the seats

-With the Manufaktur Interior Package Plus, if a person does not choose Black seats with either contrast stitching or a contrasting A-band color, there are six other seat colors available: Yacht Blue, Platinum White, Espresso Brown, Bengal Red, Titanium Grey Pearl, and Saddle Brown (as far as I am aware, the dashboard color is Black for all six of these)

-With the Manufaktur Interior Package Plus, a person can order a two-tone seat, which is Black combined with one of the six Manufaktur seat colors noted immediately above

-With the Manufaktur Interior Package Plus, if a person selects one of the six unique seat colors in either a single-tone or two-tone appearance, one can order a two-tone dashboard, which is code ZI3 -- the order guide describes this as, "the lower part of the dashboard, the center armrest, plus the side section of the center console [are] in the same color shade as the seat appointments"

TL;DR -- The Manufaktur Interior Package Plus enables a person to opt for contrasting stitching, contrasting A-band colors, or different seat colors, with a two-tone dashboard and/or two-tone seat colors available, too. If a person wants Black seats and a Black dashboard but orders the Manufaktur Interior Package Plus, then they must choose a contrast stitching color, a contrasting A-band color, or a contrasting seat color. As far as I am aware, the quality/grade of the leather is the same between the Exclusive Interior Package Plus and the Manufaktur Interior Package Plus. Why is there a difference in price? Presumably so Mercedes can charge more for these "specialized" colors/appearance options.

Just as a final note, I had thought that only the Manufaktur Interior Package and Manufaktur Interior Package Plus came with the "Manufaktur" badge on the front passenger grab handle. The order guide mentions this grab handle is included with the Exclusive Interior Package Plus as well. I think that is an error in the order guide but am not 100% positive. Perhaps someone else can clarify.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your order and please post pictures after it arrives!
