Winter G63 options
Winter G63 options
2021 G63
I’m sure this has been discussed, however I have a couple questions so please direct me to the proper thread or give you input
1. seems to be no proper option for a actual snow tire on 22” factory wheels.
2. blizzack seems to be the safest and best route for snow and icy conditions
3. If I drop down to a 20” wheel Tire rack is saying I need to go 275/50/20
- can I go more aggressive and have a thicker rubber to feel the wheel well?
Any options provided would be great!
Thank you!

Honestly, if it were my car I would have a second set of wheels with snow tires (going down to a 275/50/20 would be a great choice). If you want to keep the 22's, though, I would recommend these Pirelli's. I have had great luck with these tires on SUVs in the snow. Almost on par with Blizzaks. They are quiet and ride nice. I'm in Colorado so we probably have similar winter conditions.

I went through this with my 2019 G550 and 2019 G63.
After all my research, I went with a All-Season w/Severe Snow Service Rating tire:
FALKEN WILDPEAK A/T3W Size: 275/55R20 117T XL
It is slightly larger than stock and fills the wheel well a little better. Can you go larger? Yes, but you would rub at full articulation of the suspension. That is why I only "stepped it up" one size from a 275/50/20 to a 275/55/20. You will see posts on here showing anything larger does fit and doesn't rub - but at full suspension articulation it does rub.
I also need an off-road/all-terrain tire occasionally - so this works out great.
In deep snow and cold pavement, these work great. It could do a little better on ice - and if that is more a concern, I'd go with PIRELLI SCORPION WEATHERACTIVE in 275/55/20.
Of course you can go for a full-blown winter tire like the MICHELIN X-ICE SNOW SUV or BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK DM-V2 in 275/55/20 - but I prefer to have tires that last a lot longer and more versatile.
I run a 23" wheel with 305/35R23 YOKOHAMA 305/35R23 XL ADVAN SPORT summer tire during the other seasons.
I thought about a 22" for winter, but 20" had a great tire selection, cheaper and more sidewall for practical purposes.
The Falken's are great in dry, wet, snow and as mentioned, decent in ice (much better than a regular all-season). I run them in my other cars too - some all year-round.

thanks for the advice. Do you have a pic of how the Falkens look on the car?
