Snow experience - Time for new wheels/tires?

Hi guys and gals. Living in the midwest and we just had our first proper snow and ice storm.

I tried taking out the 2021 G63 (Mojave Silver) and it was basically a joke on anything but level surfaces. It's on the stock Perrelli 22 wheels and tires. If I had to give it a rating between 1-10, it'd be a 2.

In comparison, I have an F150 Platinum 4X4 on 20" BFG K03 that I would rate about a 5 and a 2012 LR4 riding on 20" Michelin Defender LTX that I would rate at a solid 8. That little LR4 is incredible when it comes to its capability, but it's just doesn't inspire confidence in terms of reliability. It will go about anywhere- surpassing the abilities of most any vehicle until it decides it won't go at all, not even across the driveway.

Anyway, I'd like to set the G63 up to be just as capable in the snow and ice as the LR4. I'm thinking a winter set of 20" wheels is the right place to start. It looks the the 2 options for 20" wheels are the 10-blade G63 wheels and the "Star" off-road wheels that come on the G63 with off-road package. I'm not thrilled with either wheel option, but would like to hear your thoughts on which one is better or if there are other 20" options.

I'd also like your recommendations for winter tires that will catch me up or surpass the LR4 capabilities in winter weather. Would a set of LTX Defenders do it for the G63 or should I be looking at x-ice, Blizzaks, Nokians, etc... ?

Thanks!!
