Hello, first post here. I have searched these forums and google and can’t seem to find my answer. I have. 2021 G63 and I need to replace the battery. I’m capable of the swap, but is there a battery management system that needs reset, or is it just the physical replacement and I’m on my way? Previous vehicles needed to have the BMS reset in order for it to charge correctly after replacement, but I can’t find that referenced on Mercedes. Thank you for any guidance!

 

It is usually recommended to reset it so the car knows it is a new battery and adjusts the charging algorithm. This helps prolong the lifespan of the new battery. It can be done using XENTRY, which is the official way or some third party scanners. Like a Launch CReader Benz version. The function is called "register battery to SAM and reset counter" or something along those lines.
