Mercedes Supercharger script badge
New member here. I have never actually owned a Mercedes though I have driven several examples owned by family members.
I am wondeering if anybody can help me out with any information about the Mercedes SuperCharger script badges, a scan of which I have attached.
I was told my my Dad that they came from an SSK in England in the 1930s.
I also recall him describing how the badges were attached to the front grille. The word Mercedes sloped up towards the centre line of the grille and the word "SuperCharger" was on the other half but sloping downwards. So that the two badges formed an upward pointing chevron.
I have Google searched for SSK images but have been unable to find any showing script badges in the configuration as described.
To give a scale, the word "Mercedes" is about 265mm long.
Does anybody recognise these items? If they were a genuine factory accessory, would it not be more likely to say "Kompressor"?
Or are they more likely to have been hand made as a "one off" by an enthusiastic owner? Even with a filing machine, hand production would have been a very laborious process.
Thanks for reading this far and for any assistance you can give.
DH
