W108 with bmw M70 V12

Hi all,I'm new to this forum.I have always been a fan of the w108 and now I'm searching for one BUT I never thought that any of the engines that came with the car except the 6.3 V8 really did it any justest and I want to use the car as a daily drive but make it a little more modern and to be more user friendly and give it the power it deserves I would think. So I was thinking of getting a w108 in good condition and in stalling a bmw m70 V12,now I know allot of you will scream blasphemy but bang for buck it's worth it and they take well to turbos as well and comparing the price of a MB V12 or even a V8 that comes close costs about 4 to 5 times as much. And for those of you that don't know the bmw m70 V12 is 220 kW (300 hp) @ 5200 450 N·m (330 lb·ft) @ 4100 an 6000 rpm redline. And that's more power then a m100 6.3 V8 except for a little less torque but 40kw more and 50hp more.I love the look of the w108 it's class of wheels but I just don't like the fact that there slow and all the old problems that come with them,I asked a repeatable suspension shop if they could make custom springs for the car to handle like a new one and they said no problem.I like to travel in style but want the power that come with it.What do you think does the old girl need a V12?

I was thinking about the same thing but with a W109 and M120 Mercedes V12 It has 100 more HP. Best of luck I have no clue what the M70 BMW motor cost but the M120's are relativity cheap.

You think the m120 V12 will fit?I mean a 6.3 V8 fit in that engine bay and I think it will be a great engine for the car.Have you seen the m70 V12 on youtube before?

love where you are going - i am in the same boat -

i too am thinking of a 108, but swapping out an eng/tranny/drivetrain from an E55 211 and an air bag set up. You can find a an eng/tranny with harness for 6-7K and installation would run another few thousand. Ultimately would love to put in a 6.3 NA motor but they are still to expensive.

I think all said and done you'd be into the car for 20-22K - already talked to a shop here locally that only works on MB and said he is up for the challenge having built countless race cars for owners.

It sounds really cool please keep us update I would love to see it,its just a shame MB parts weren't cheaper here or I would go the MB route but I am a fan of bmw and know the quality that's why I thought of going the bmw V12 way.
