Key Stuck In 300D Passenger Door

Hi Everyone,

I just purchased my second 1976 300D. Drives wonderfully, but this evening, the key got stuck in the passenger side door. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Nick

Will your key have a hole through it.If not drill one through,so you can put a screwdriver through and pull .It should come out . Its worn and needs work doing on them, they fill with dirt old grease, and the tumblers inside wear out .So, if and when it comes out, it wants cleaning . You will need a penetrating oil spray get it in the lock give it a good soak .Then oil the lock .And if it will not work after that you will need to replace the lock barrel. This is how i did mine dont know if yours are the same.

Surprisingly, pulling the key and the inside door handle at the same time loosened the key enough to pull it out. I did spray some WD40 in the keyhole as well, but that initially didn't do the trick. Maybe a combo of the two, but either way, the key is out!

Nick i think you will need to keep cleaning it with penetrating oil. Do it a few times. Then light oil. WD 40 is not a lubricant but water dispersant .Any problems after that and you may need to replace the lock barrel As i see you have a 76 300D so it may not be the same lock as yours.

Try putting some lube and try pulling and twisting key while pulling the door handle. If it doesn't work, have it checked by a professional.
