Mercedes 308D - 309D

Hi,

I'm planning to change my van for a James Cook 309D. I know that this mercedes engines are strong and can make a lot of kms, but what I'm buying have more than 300.000km and 30 years.

Luckly I've never had any (serious) problem with my van but it's not the same when buying and another one ...

- If the chassis is ok, whats the worse thing that can fail on the engine?
- If I want in the future to change the engine (I've seen an oldtimer vans that says that the engine is "new"), is very expensive and difficult to find this king of engines?

I just want to know the worse that can happen when buying this king of van.

PD:There are a lot of sub-forums here, please excuse me if this is not the right place to post this kind of questions.

Thanks,
