71 280se 3.5 EURO Coupe Worth ?
Hey Guys,
i am in the process of working a deal on a 71 280SE 3.5 coupe euro. its been repainted decently it has a nice clean shine to it although it does have some rust in the rear, but nothing that can't be taken care of bright work looks almost new.
glass is all there rubber isn't too shabby either, interior wood could use a little TLC, but looks good for now. i eventually will redo them, but i heard it costs around $5k i live in L.A and i think i heard about a guy near Ventura county or something who does every one's cars.
the seats and carpet need to be redone
engine runs like a top.
probably needs a little tlc also as its been sitting for a few years.
anyway not sure what the car is worth. i would love to get a deal so i could use all the funds to restore it and make it beautiful.
i can't seem to find a euro one, but im guessing it's worth somewhere around 40k as is and 80 90k done.
whats your thoughts?

A M.B. will always cost more, even after the purchase, but you don't buy a M.B. because its economical. In that light, it sounds like a good deal and it sounds like you're good with the condition its in. The 3.5 is a superior engine and probably has the 4 speed auto (instead of the 3 speed of the 4.5). Go for it but it certainly is a money pit.

Like a phoenix this thread rises again. I have owned a 1971 280SE 3.5 coupe, European, 4 speed manual, no sunroof or side markers, but with original A/C. It is definitely not a money pit. Sure you have to maintain it but it has been fantastic. Bought it around 2003. Values have jumped and I hope you bought it.
