1966 w111 Mercedes 250SE Coupe
I had just stumble to a very good condition 250SE Coupe with a recent restauration, absolutly no rust, a quality paint job and seats and capets that look like more from a 2016 mercedes than a 1966 ( altough it needs a nice wood polishing ). The thing is that is has a diesel engine, but no problem because i can buy a 250SE (Fuel injected) engine from a sedan that is from the same owner and because it´s a fairly old car i don´t spend allot of Money making it road legal. I am going to swap the diesel to the original M129 Engine and the guy that is selling the Coupe has one and i am interested on the engine: looks to be in fairly good Shape with no leaks and a clean look ( will come from a low milage 250SE 4 door ) but i really didn´t fired the engine up so all i could say is that it looks ok by the outside, it looks to have low milage and last time that ran was 4 year ago and took new fluids ( and the oil looks like completly new ). Of course i am going to perform a full check on the engine but the only problem that i have is about special mechanical cares that i have to have with the M129 Motor: i allready know that the injector pump is hard to work but whats really concerning is that i had hear that particular engine was issues like the oil-to-water heat Exchange and so on thath can obviously cause severe engine damage and other problems in the engine. I Would really like to know if you have our had a W111 coupe like this and the experience that you have/had with it.
P.S: I had heard thath it "drinks" significantly more fuel than it´s M130 280SE brother, is that true?
