W110 - Engine interchange 621.910 and 621.912? 1962 190d

Hey guys!

New to this forum and look forward to regular participation. I have always loved the old Merc diesels, and recently a chance came up to purchase a 1962 190d. I also have an offer on the table to trade a non-functional 1937 Pontiac for a fully rebuilt OM621 engine.

Before I do that, I was wanting to make sure that interoperability between the two engines will not be a problem? The 621 I'm getting is a late-era Ponton 1.8l 621.910, and it will eventually be going in my 1962, which came with the higher displacement 621.912. Everything *appears* to be the same except for stroke, checking online specifications, I just want to make sure it will bolt up to the transmission when I eventually perform an engine installation. The plan is to run the Merc until the 621 in it blows up eventually and swap in the rebuilt motor. It smokes rather heavily at present, and I don't have confidence in the longevity of the current motor (uncertain maintenance history on these old cars.)

Picture of the car attached!
