Driver window replaced in 1981 300SD

Driver window replaced in 1981 300SD
I replaced a broken driver window but now when the window is rolling up it tips to the front of the car. The difference in the original window and the replacement is the length of the window channel; original is 24 inches replacement is 18.5 but the regulator fits both. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Is there a way to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.

Are you 100% sure the replacement is for your model and year? What is your VIN and where did you buy the replacement glass? Do you have any photos of the glass you installed, and the regulator assembly?
