I have a 1984 Mercedes-Benz 190E with an M102.961 engine, which currently uses rocker arms with part number 102 055 0001. These rocker arms are adjusted with screws, unlike a later version of the same engine, which was modified to use rocker arms with hydraulic lifters (non-screw-adjusted) with part number 102 050 0633.
I’d like to replace them because they’re starting to make noise. According to my mechanic, it’s due to wear on both the rocker arms and the camshaft. My question is: are these parts interchangeable? Specifically, can I install the rocker arms with part number 102 050 0633 instead of the original 102 055 0001, assuming I also purchase the corresponding hydraulic lifters? Or is this swap not possible?
