Harmonic Balancer failure

I have just been informed that the subsequent damages caused by a harmonic balancer failure (current recall) will not be covered under the recall or the Starmark extended warranty. Total damages are not known yet but will be a minimum of $1100 for a new oil pan. Any other similar experiences and possible recourse to get damages paid?

We had not 1 but 2 1999 CLK 320's that had the same thing happen. If it is under warranty they will take care of it. Our's were not. I fought tooth & nail to no avail. Dealer's are playing it off like it is just bad luck for you. BS, it is a very common problem. Do a search on this site and you will find plenty about it. Good Luck
