Bad news for Benz: Gordon Murray on M-B culture...
Good luck, Dieter, getting your entire pre-existing corporate structure to improve engineering and quality while cutting costs at the same time.
FRANKFURT, Sept. 12 - The incoming chairman of DC signaled that he would impose a stringent cost-cutting regimen on the company's flagship Mercedes division, which has had a collapse in profit amid evidence that its quality standards have deteriorated. Speaking at the Frankfurt IAS, the executive, Dieter Zetsche, said in an interview, "We have to learn to do the same with less, or even more with less."

It is very unlikely that Mercedes will be able to change very quickly given their corporate culture. Gordon Murray recently had some scathing things to say about how MBZ did an amazing job of doing LESS with MORE on the SLR/McLaren project. Not a good sign for the long-term health of the company...

Interesting articles, well in any case I hope that Zetsche can bring Mercedes-Benz back to the top within 3 years like he wants. It's a shame that this great automaker fell from the top to begin with.
