Why Benzes are soooo expensive

Makes me sick.....
Does this sort of thing happen here in the USA, or is it strictly confined to the 3rd world?
It does seem like a little bit more than necessary, do they really need 1000 Benzes?
This effort in S. Africa to provide 1,000 plus MBs for dignitaries is clearly a promo and a "thank you" for their governments' continued patronage to MB vehicles.
I would be very wary of buying a used right hand drive MB for some time...
Even more sickening to the South African public must that the typical waiting period there for ANY MB model is upwards of 2 months, but in the meantime MB has been stockpiling them for this "gesture".
MB sales/service organizations for commercial and passenger vehicles cover the globe, because of their pursuit of world markets during the past 60 years.
For decades, MB has been offering discounts to the world's diplomatic corps, which to the firm is just a tax write off for promos.
These were marks well spent, because the investments are paying off as evidenced by the high demand for MB products in the developing and developed world markets.
