Deciding Whether to Buy a New Mercedes
I own a 2001 E 320 4Matic. It has a little over 51K miles on it.
I like driving the car. Over the life of the car here are the issues I had with it:
1. Less than 1 year after buying the car, the car wouldn't start. It was an electric fuel pump I think.
2. The AC failed due to a leak.
3. The ABS light came on and a switch had to be replaced.
4. Not all the pixels on the clock were showing and the entire instrument cluster had to be replaced.
All of this was covered on my warranty.
I don't have a Nav system and would like that with Voice Command and Bluetooth (I like gadgets).
I drove a new E yesterday and a new Acura TL. The TL Navi is nicer IMHO than the MB Navi. The salesman said I would have to buy an MB phone for $1400 for BT. These are 2 features where a $33K does better. The E is more luxurious and rides much better.
The service advisor at a large MB dealer tells me he sees a lot of electrical problems and Consumer Reports shows this as well.
I am having trouble seeing the value in MB yet I like the car and would welcome comments.
BTW, I never did find a center console for storing things in the 06 E350 AWD. Is it there and I missed it? I sure hope so.
