I give UP! - Why AMG Stats Secret??

I GIVE UP!!

I have tried to get the following stats from MBUSA, - unsuccessfully.

After several attempts via e-mail, here is my first and MBUSA's last: LAME & PATHETIC!

As a public enterprise, those figures are on their fingertips, - just to lazy and/or incompetent to look them up??

Perhaps some of you might try your own contacts/methods/avenues, because it would be of interest, to know how RARE the CLK55 AMGs are!

Dear Mr. K.,

We have written to you on several occasions explaining that while we do have sales figures for some of our vehicles available on our website, we do not have production numbers for AMG models. In our July 10, 2002 response to you we explained that we are in the process of updating our Eebsite, and while we have no definitive information at this time, we do hope to have
the information you are requesting available on our website in the near future.

We solicit your understanding regarding our limitations to provide you with the exact information you are requesting as it is currently not available.

If you are still dissatisfied with this response, we invite you to contact a Customer Relations Representative at 1-800-FOR-MERCedes (1-800-367-6372).

Sincerely,

Jan Barone

I honestly don't think they know about AMG models because when I talked to Antje Williams, AMG product specialist - one of two people in the states that focus on AMG products, she said that they(US) was still negotiating the number of SL55s coming over. This was in the beginning of August.

Being that there are still '02 models untitled they really cannot give an accuarate number of sold cars probably for about one year. I think a C32 could still be ordered through the summer. That means there are still product in the pipe lines.

Make sense? Don't want to count the chickens before they hatch.

Companies just don't release production information. It's information which is typically not disclosed outside of the company due to competitive concerns. They do, however, release sales figures. BMW, for example, knows how many cars they expect to make this year in every market and how many they've made in the past. Sales information for the US can be found on their website and a press release is issued on the first day of every month, indicating the previous month's sale by model and trim level and YTD totals.

There was an effort on another forum to determine how many M Coupes were built and sold. The sales figures were readily available for the US, but people wanted to know how many were made worldwide. Someone got a kindly soul from inside BMW M to send them production breakdowns by vintage year and I think they've been able to get pretty good figures.

Unless you get someone on the inside to help you out, it's highly unlikely you'll get these figures out.

Norm:

All chickens have been hatched!

I only requested 2001 and 2002 CLK55 AMG coupe/cabriolet stats.

The only exception is the 2003 cabriolet, whose eggs were/are not hatched and those numbers were not on my request.
