Posers are *** idiots. Most of the population doens't even know all the models Mercedes makes and let alone which ones are Amg specific, and badge#'s. Example: E55 or E500. Most chicks don't know and most of middle America has no clue. And for those of us that do, we spot the fakes very easily. So the point is. People that don't know what your fake badge means, don't know you spent anymore money than the next guy. People who do know, think your an idiot trying to hard. I see posers quit a bit here in Newport and the surronding area. I actualy took all my badges off. My car is a sleeper. Main reason was because of the Evo's and WXR's.
When I did have my badge a swear once a week, I would like over to my right or left and some goofy looking early 20's not knowing how drive dip ****, is making weird gestures that they want to race. Can't wait until I get my used cls55 and evo sport it out. I'll take the badge off still and have one mean *** sleeper.

Yeah most people dont know. I have a friend who was almost talked into buying a E500 AMG from a dealer. She was telling me that it was an E500 that was upgraded to FULL AMG specs. Im glad she bought the "regular" E500, otherwise id have to try and convince her to take off the badge and not be a poser. I was trying to tell her that there is no such thing as an e500 amg, but she insisted. She also told me that her husband was interested in the new E65.

I did not notice a body kit or anything else.
Yes, once you know what to look for. They are plentiful.
I just wonder how many dealers are screwing people
for extra cash just for the badge.

Last night. Houstons Restaurant in Irvine.
Nice place. Always lots of Benz`s in the small parking lot.
Pulling in with my SL55. Notice a rust colored S55 in front of me pulling in.
Something odd here. Dual exhaust only? Guy sees me and runs into the restaurant. Its a poser. No AMG brakes. Has the lowest form of stock
MBZ rims on it too. But nice badges on the back. A 20 Something with an
open shirt. I sat and waited for my date. His car was still there when we left. I left a nice bar napkin letting him know that he had been made
as a POSER.

Man, some of you guys are hard-up on posers.
Just my 2cents...
1. I bet 8 out of 10 people never heard of AMG - speaking in general
2. Rather than hating, you guys should appreciate the people badging their none AMGs with AMG badges. Example (not apples to oranges but you get the idea). I wear Jordan sweatpant, shirt, shoes, etc..I even have a signature ball and I DO NOT even know how to f#cken dribble a basketball but I'm a Jordan fan.
3. To each his own - as long as the person is not hurting/offending you, who gives a Sh$t what he puts on his car. I totally understand we paid a lot of money to have an AMG, but to those who can't afford, they are just putting the badge on for respect, not to disrespect!! See Jordan example.
That said, tonight, I'm debadging and badging my fathers Toyota Camry with Maybach emblems, and I'm almost certain he will not even notice.

it's funny to see people 're-badge' their cars to something it isn't...I get a kick out of it (I just laugh to myself and move along)...I would rather 'de-badge' my car for a cleaner look....and yes, when I do purchase an AMG or M car, I will de-badge it as well....I would rather have people guessing or real car freaks knowing what I have...

I'll bet that the auto companies could save/make a bundle on this. Don't badge the car in the factory. Sell the badges at the dealer, for a marked up price!

Couldn't this have been a 2001 pre-supercharged S55- which only came with the dual exhaust and didn't say "AMG" on the brakes?
