Mercedes market-share stats?
I always hear that BMW has the best-selling "compact" sports sedan, the 3-series, but I've also recently read that the C-class is M-B's highest seller.
I've also read that the S-Class is the benchmark for full-size luxury sedans, but does it sell better than its competitors?
Does anyone have stats for these sales numbers?
e..g
2006 Data
Compact
----------
M-B: Cars sold: x
BMW: Cars sold: y
...
Mid-Size
----------
M-B: Cars sold: a
BMW: Cars sold: b
...
... you get the idea..
Sales in the United States, its primary market, dropped from 21,542 in 2004 to 10,941 in 2005. BMW sold 106,950 3 Series cars in the U.S. in 2005, while Mercedes-Benz sold 60,658 C-Class cars and Audi sold 48,922 A4 and S4 models. Only the Lexus IS posted similarly disappointing sales.

So, we have:
Segment: Compact Sport Sedan
Period: 2005
===============================
BMW: 106,950
M-B: 60,658
Audi: 48,922
Jaguar: 10,941
Lexus: ~10,000
If you all have stats from other sources, please post here!
Thanks,
