1990 BMW 535i 5-speed
New to MB and mbworld.org, introduction and questions

Hi all, I'm new here, don't yet own an MB and would like to start. Background: I've been driving a BMW for the last few years (an E34 535i 5-speed) and love it, but recently relocated to Geneva, Switzerland (the BMW's staying in the US) and would like to try a Benz for a change. I was sort of thinking of a W124, the consensus seems to be that this was one of MB's best (that, and the rust problem on the W210 scares me, since Geneva gets snowy and hence salty winters). I like the W126 (I had a friend with an '85 300SD, the sheer awesomeness of that car was what drew me to MB in the first place) but think it might be a little big for driving around a European city. There are a lot more W201s/W202s here than E-classes, but they tend to be kind of stripped-down; many don't even have a tachometer! Which car tends to hold up better and need less repairs, the W124 or W202 (assume year/mileage are the same)? Which engine is the best cost/performance for the European market (we got a LOT more choices over here)? Finally, does anyone know a good MB shop in the Geneva area?

Thanks!
