Extended Warranty--Prices Differ Dealer to Dealer?
I just bought an '03 S600 to replace my '00 S430. I bought an extended warranty on the 430, and offered to sell the remaining 36 months to my friend who's buying it for a pro-rata amount. He called the dealer closest to him, and they offered him a 5 year warranty for much less than I paid.
I was quoted ~$3700 for a 4-year for the S600 and I called the other dealer to get a quote and they quoted ~$2800 for a 5-year platinum plan. I had them send over the paperwork immediately--will I get it done at that level?

Extended warranties
I have read on these forums that you can definitely get a better-than-retail price if you negotiate with a Mercedes dealer. Unfortunately, I found this out after I just paid what the dealer asked me for to extend my CPO car from 12 to 24 months. This was a bonified "Starmark" MB warranty, and I paid about $2700 for the extra 12 months. As you probably know, I have 100,000 miles too.
At least some of the quotes you mentioned are from after market companies. There are good and bad ones. Before buying anything other than a true MB factory one, you better do some homework.
I have also read that you had better have a warranty on any of the 12-bangers. Good Luck!
